Andy Quested started working at the BBC in 1978 becoming a video-tape editor in 1985 where he worked on many comedy, children’s and documentary series.  He also worked on the introducing of non-linear editing, stereo and widescreen.

In 1999 he moved to the new technology department working on the BBCs first HD programme Planet Earth I and first UHD programme, Planet Earth II.   Andy also led the EBU’s production strategic programme and continues to lead the QC group

Andy chaired the rapporteur group that developed the HDR-TV standard which led to the award of an Emmy in 2023.  In 2015 he became chair of the ITU group responsible for programme production.  In this role Andy initiated new work on Advanced Immersive Sensory Media, AI, Energy Aware Broadcasting and componentized content creation.

Andy co-chairs the ITU accessibility group and is co-ordinator for Accessibility and Sustainability issues. Recently, Andy led the work to produce the new ITU-R Report on the future of broadcast production.

Currently Andy is volunteering for TeenTech, an educational charity encouraging technology and engineering for under 18s and Rise-Academy Live, a charity that runs events and summer schools to demonstrate opportunities in media technology and engineering.
